I've put ~38K exposures on my 40D since getting it a year ago, kept about 5K of them.

I shoot a decent amount of sports (motorcycles/bmx/skate/surf), so I burn through frames pretty fast on the days I'm covering that stuff.

I wish the VF was better (working on getting a MF screen in there now), and it was FF, but IQ is good enough for me. Printed a few images to 8x10 that were shot at 1600 and it's better than what film gave me when I was printing myself.

Yes, birds mostly, I have a great area here for eagles in the late fall and winter my keeper rate should go up a good bit. Lately it's been Herons

I love Herons and Egrets -- tons of them around here!

We get pelicans too of course (shot with 400/5.6):

I use / own a 1Ds. I have used 30D, 5D and 5D II from my wife. We also have few L series prime and zoom lenses. She has a professional website. I do not feel like I have the skills and courage to become a true professional, although I sale a lot of portraits

1Ds as in the original? I haven't used one but gather it's one of the sharpest per-pixel DSLRs out there thanks to the weak AA filter.

I have 1Ds as in the original. I purchased it because it is relatively cheaper and the 1D series has more focal selection points than the 5D series. Mine has 45 point. I am happy with what I get straight from the camera.

I bet -- a lot of people overlook the 1Ds as an option for inexpensive full frame. I have a 1Ds II and love it to death.

I own a Petri 7s and Petri Color 35. doesn't get much smaller, more retro and hip my friend. plus bonus points for not being a major brand.

Dear Canonites,

I'm seriously looking at the Canon 5DII to be my takumar machine, but I also want to use the 70-400L on it, with my lens setup (on my sig) do I have to shave off the mirror? Is there any other alternative for a FF manual lens machine? I feel that 1Ds would totally kill the purpose of having a smaller lens.

Is there a way to make FA limited work on 5D without shaving the aperture flange? (making the conversion reversible), maybe by using parts from other lenses / making one on your own?

Thanks for the answers

Andi-

It's really a per-lens situation. The 50mm f/1.4 will probably need the mirror shaved, same with the 24/3.5 but each camera and lens is slightly different given slight manufacturing tolerances.
