I regularly shoot with Mamiya 35mm cameras. The 500 DTL and the ZE2 Quartz. Anyone else a Mamiya 35mm fan?

I've always wanted a Mamiya. Unfortunately they're a bit out of my price range though.

The 35mm shouldn't be. My 500 takes m42 lenses so it's a win-win. I doubt I paid more than $50 for either.

I have an NC1000 and small kit. However, the is some weird quirk with the electromagnet that holds open the last shutter keeping the mirror up. When I take the batteries out, the mirror returns and the 2nd shutter closes. I posted on the Mamiya site a few months back but no one could figure it out.

When I bought my ZE2 I had a local guy repair it. He actually does all my repair work. If you want pm me and I'll search his phone number. I usually just stop by and leave it with him. Never use to ask the price. Think that's changed now though.

I was actually talking about 6x7. A bit out of my price range:

Mamiya M7II Black Body (EC) NR - eBay (item 270451055592 end time Sep-09-09 17:00:00 PDT)

I wouldn't mind one of these though:

Son that's out of my price range too! Then you have to get lenses for it.

The 6x7 SLRs are a bit cheaper though. I've seen complete RB67 kits go for under $200 recently.

They aren't quite as portable as the 7 though.

As to the original question: I do like the Mamiya 35mm SLRs. Great glass. They also made a line of fixed lens SLRs (like the 528TL), though they don't seem to hold up as well and most of the ones I've seen were broken.

I have a Mamiya 35mm CP that I have put a few rolls through. Takes M42 lenses but has this weird in-body-but-not-through-lens meter. I might give it to St. Vinnies, I just can't get the hang of it.
