Canon Powershot S90

Happened to look at the High ISO (1600/3200) shots on DP Review samples page (Canon PowerShot S90 Preview Samples Gallery: Digital Photography Review), WOW! Definitely going to give LX3 a run for its money. As I can't find an LX3 under $530 right now, the S90 at $429 (list) will be a bargain. I actually owned the LX3 for a brief while and really liked it, but didn't like the fact that my LTD lenses were just sitting there while I shot a P&S, so I sold it and got the K-m to go with my K-10D. That's a lot of kit, so now I have just the K-7. Would be interested in having the S90 as an "always in my briefcase" camera.

What do you folks think about those samples?

Todd

The S90 is a compelling camera. I have a DLux4 so I'm not sure if the IQ actually is enough to push me off that as my "everywhere" camera, but the S90 has a couple of big advantages:

- the raw files will likely be supported quickly by Aperture (LX3/DLux4 still are not)

- no lens cap

- the lens ring functionality

Yeah, this little camera interests me as well.

I *almost* got an LX3 about a year ago, but decided to wait. The LX3 is just barely pocket size, it fits in very tightly in most pockets, while this new S90 seems like it's the perfect compromise.

Looking forward to trying this little gem out to see if I will finally settle with my first compact digital camera since I started doing photography.

those high iso samples seem to be causing a stir, pretty acceptable results to me without the water-colorness of the early Fuji Super CCDs

the S90 and the G11 will surely be a big hit and Panasonic will probably have to respond in their pricing of the LX3
