You wouldn't catch anyone from Wired heading to SE Asia.

The humidity there general ruins Wired reporters' hairstyles and no Wired reporter is capable of working under such conditions.

Nice article, mate forwarded it to me yesterday. And they probably could've put more references to the Nazis in the opening paragraphs if they really tried.

Cool read. That's a serious lens (or overpriced, depending how you look at it); makes the DA Limited lenses look like toys!

This is cool:

Fascinating article.

There are a lot of parallels between Leica and Pentax. Both have a proud heritage of making fine cameras and lenses and both are a shadow of their former selves. Both got caught hanging on to tradition bound processes and technologies and as a result both are on the edge of extinction. Sad to say but there may not be room in today’s world for such dedication to quality. The market for such expensive gear is so small it may render Leica irrelevant if it survives at all.

it hangs on because of individual private investors, so it has a batter chance of survival than Pentax does at this point id say. and since Leica Camera AG is a seperate company from the other companies that share the Leica name, that very name would live on should the camera company eventually go under. the same couldnt be said about Pentax, of course, they lost their origional name quite some time ago.
