Over the course of a year or so I managed to find pre AI lenses that were contemporaneous with my F2 and that hadn't been murdered. So I now have my F2s, and a 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 105mm lenses.
They don't see much use these days.
The 85 is a very nice lens.
Back in the mid '70's I was visiting some family in Edmonton. I recall we went to some department store, can't recall the name of it, but it wasn't one of the big 3...Eaton's, the Bay or Sears. Anyways while everyone else went to get more practical things at the store, I went to their camera department.
At the time I was considering getting a Pentax ES ll (which I eventually did), but at this camera dept....they brought out a new old stock Nikon F Photomic...chrome body. It had the standard Nikkor lens...can't recall if F 1.4 ? Anyways I spent about 20 minutes hemming, hawing and handling this camera. In the end I decided against it, as I figured it I had any trouble with it...I lived in the 'Peg...it might be a problem. It wouldn't of been I thought later, as it would of had the Nikon Canada wide warranty, but I didn't think about that.
Since then I've often wondered if my main photography equipment throughout the years would of been Nikon, not Pentax. I've had other makes in those ensuing years...Mamiya, Leica, Olympus, Canon, etc...but never a Nikon.
Anyways, your post made me think of that day in Edmonton...many years ago.
