I haven't used original Pentax screens in a while as I've had chinese splits installed on my K20d and then on my K-7. It's larger of course, which is always better. The focusing point is visible at all times, and not just when you half-press the button, which is many times handy.

I have had a canon eos 350D and 20D i really love the 20D for the scroll wheel and interface but i sold it when i went overboard last year in buying and selling.
And today i have a pentax K10D.
I do not like the interface but i really like all the features in it like the manual focus and that so many lenses fit it along with it has manual focus support. I can not talk about the nikon since i have never had one.
It would be fun to try it to compare it with the others but i am happy with what i have now. I might perhaps in the future if i get a well paid job try it out although i would not sell my pentax.
Because having one of each would be kinda cool hehehe

i've been waiting for pentax to go full frame but nothing happens...yet.. so I picked up 5d2 and now selling k20d. Still keep my 645n though. Off topic, looking at the new nikon 14-24mm making think about the nikon d700 since canon wide angle lens choices are not so good.

The 14-24 is astounding, but Nikon doesn't offer anything cheaper than the D3x that'll really take advantage of it. Some people ended up getting the 16-9 adapter and using it on a 5D2 to get the best of both worlds.

Personally, if I wanted top notch ultra wide, I'd plonk down the coin for the Canon 17/4 TS-E -- it's not as flexible as the 14-24 focal length wise, but holy cow, it performs. However, I rarely shoot wider than 24mm so the Sigma 15-30 is my weapon of choice for those rare moments...

Don't ignore the 17mm Tilt Shift

Don't ignore the 17mm Tilt Shift

14-24mm or 17mm T/S - FM Forums

Though I am a fan of D700 and 14-24mm, nobody makes a 17mm Tilt Shift like Canon.

I'm actually thinking of getting the D700 for FF vs the 5DMK II with the 12-24, 24-70 and 70-200 to complete that system but waiting for PMA first to see if i should hold on for the 700's upgrade/replacement.

I don't have any experience with the Nikon 12-24 but the Canon 16-35II is a helluva a lens if you like wide and fast on FF. Is the Nikon fisheye? My Canon fisheye is 15mm. I can't imagine 12mm on FF... does it see behind you?

I haven't price checked in a long time but it seems to me that the Nikon kit would cost a fair bit more than Canon? And I personally think that comparing D700 to 5DII is a bit like comparing a Porche and a Ferrari... They might be different but they're both pretty awesome. So I'd probably base my decision mostly on price or on specially lens selection (like Nikon 200-400 or Canon 17mm TS)

yeah, my bank gonna drain big time when I got enough fund for that 17mm L T/S, still debate either 17T/S, 24T/S, or Zeiss 21mm ZE.
Canon 16-35II on 5D2 is great for general stuff around but when it comes to landscape, its corner sharpness is no where compare with those mentioned above or the nikon 14-24mm. Anyway, I love how the 5D2 produced image with 35L and 85L, can wait to see how it looks with the 17mmT/S

35L is the next lens for me. I rented the 24L (mark I version) and it was aweful. Did I mention that it totally sucked? Even stopped down to F2.8 my tamron was sharper.

I recently bought the D700. The past 6-7 months I've been ready to buy FF system and no good news from Pentax. I wish I could afford to keep my K-7 along with small primes but probably can't
I am on the same boat as you. I sold most of my Pentax gear and bought the D700 along with the Nikon 24-700mm. I wanted to go FF and better AF system. I still have my K100D and the FA 50mm f/1.4 that I plan to keep.

Is there a lens adapter for Pentax that will let me attach Nikon and Canon lenses?

Does any one abuse their non-Pentax system like they do their Pentax?

I have no qualms about going into a storm with my Pentax but i do with my 7D

My K20D has never seen a drop of water

My K20D has never seen a drop of water.

I don't own any DA* lenses. None of my Pentax lenses are weathersealed.

That said none of my other brand gear has ever seen a drop of water either.

So yes, I abuse my Pentax gear the same as I abuse my other brand gears.

Yes

I will shoot the Canon and Pentax system side by side at a mountain bike race in the rain and dust. They have both seen a great deal of both rain and dust and both systems have help up extremely well. On top of that I have never once cleaned the sensor on my Canon whereas my K20 needed fairly regular maintenance. Having said that I would never even consider owning a Canon 50D or any other body that did hot have adequate sealing. The systems I have now are so well built that I do not consider taking them in the rain and dust to be abuse.

Owning a 50D, I gotta say that the weather sealing thing is kind of overblown. I've probably shot 8,000 frames on a beach where sand and salty water is in the air constantly, as well as taken it out in rain, and it's never missed a beat.
