Agreed, I think its a stupid idea going with smaller 2.5x crop sensor.

If it hits the market, it will be interesting to see how it pans out. With that small a sensor, I think we can expect P&S image quality and pretty awful high ISO performance.
I expect they'll hype the EVF as the greatest thing since the invention of the transistor, kicking their bread and butter optical finders in the junk in the process.
The nice thing about an EVF, I suppose, is that there really is no reference regarding sensor size, making it the great equalizer, turning a big sensor into the same thing as a small sensor in use.

Apart from the wide end, it's maybe not that crazy. i mean, they might lose a stop in ISO performance but maybe could create a really portable tool.

Hehe 'tool' ....

If the registration distance isn't all that long, then the wide end isn't a problem.
The reason why the wide end is a problem with cropped sensor cameras using 35mm registration distances is because the lens mount was designed for longer focal length lenses.
