Here are some I took on the first roll I put through the Canon EF. I used the Canon 100 2.8 FD and Vivitar 36mm extension tube for the close ups.

I bought one new with the 50mm for $300 in 1977. It was sitting right next to a Pentax :-)

Final touches.

This event is called pole bending.

The tractor smooths the field after about every 3 riders.

If your horse just stands in the corner, it can be very upsetting.

But it worked out.

Calf roping.

The tongue tends to come out.

The ribbon roping. This young lady is a state and national champion in some events.

Her brother is chasing the calf to grab the ribbon.

In team roping, one tries for the head, one for the feet.

Navigating the 3 barrels. She won the peewee goat-tying.

Another uncooperative horse did not want to play.

Oops!

Penalty time is added for knocking over a barrel.

The fish-face is common among riders.

Carrying the small rope in your teeth saves time retrieving it.

Long Beach Historical Society.

Past, Present, Future.

California Express.

Historic photos. The port of Long Beach is one of the largest in the nation.

Ship launching party.

Howard Hughes "accidentally" flew the Hercules, AKA "Spruce Goose", during taxi trials in Long Beach harbor.

Parts of Long Beach sank up to 31 feet due to oil removal, in this case flooding the Ford plant causing an electrical fire in 1956.

Eventually the "Spruce Goose", which was made of birch, was housed in a dome next to the Queen Mary, a former luxury liner, both of which became tourist attractions..

I recently picked up a well worn Canon 1d mark III APS-H body so I can use my Canon lenses with digital. Here are a few from a local car show with the 24-105 f/4L.
