Around 2nd Hand Canon 1Ds Mk1 or Mk2 Worth The Money?

Curious if I wanted to get a pro body to use but not spend the money would either of the above be worth getting for the price?

I know the 1Ds is quite old now I have though seen 2nd hand MK2's for a suprising $1800AU

The 1Ds is a little old and quirky (so-so battery life, not very good at higher ISO, can't zoom on the LCD etc) though it still produces good pictures. The 1Ds Mark II is an entirely different animal; it's 5 years old now but still cranks out SUPERB images, even at higher ISOs. Super fast AF, built like a tank, great viewfinder, just an awesome camera. Yes, I have one and yes, I am biased.

If you read FM (fredmiranda.com) much you can see quite a bit of discussion about these cameras, including comparisons to more recent gear; one guy posted ISO 100-3200 comparisons with the 5D Mark II and the 1Ds II held up incredibly well.

So go buy one. Now.

Pro body or not my eyes can't see on that tiny 2" screen, so if you have good eyes like me

"PRO" bodies are built to take daily abuse unless you plan to do so i would consider 5D/II.

It is pretty small by current standards, but the resolution (230k) is decent enough, and I really only use it for histogram checking. But yeah, the 920k one on my 50D would be nice to have at times.
