yes a pellet hitting a bottle is very different, I was refering to the water drop stuff you were trying. But I have given the situation some thought for you.
NOTE: This is by no way me saying more FPS is bad - I am all for higher fps as long as nothing else has to be sacrificed.

Typically a pellet travels at what 500-1000ft per second. we'll go with 500ft/s as that is the the slower end and therefore the easiest to capture. 500ft = 6000inchs so if you were to manage to get enough light to even capture a frame at 1/8000th the pellet will still be traveling .75 inches, so at best you will see a smudge. And a even at 15 FPS the pellet will still travel 400 inches (33.3ft) between frames. The likely hood of getting the pellet within the frame is low, the likelyhood of getting it in the right position in the frame is even lower.

My suggestion here would be to get some nice powerful lights and shoot high frame rate video. 120fps might land you a couple of frames.
I think he needs to use a Phantom camera for a day just to see what a fast frame rate really is like Once you shoot at 12000 fps there is no looking back. Once you video one shell going through a structure or one explosion at high speed they start looking alike.

Can we please now move this discussion either to a thread of its own or to a thread already dedicated to this, as it's really throwing the thread off.

Some with the A7R:

I was in a plane during the time of the eclipse, but was on the wrong side so saw nothing except a broken sceptre with the shadow of the plane:

Some from Berlin:

That last shot is quite nice (though I think it could benefit from a slight CCW tilt adjustment).

How are you liking the A7R?

I like its size, and it handles very well. The colours appear to be warmer than my 645Z even at the same white balance temperature. Low light focussing isn't great, but I knew this would be one of the weak points of the camera. I haven't been able to control the camera from the play memories app - all i can do is view images and I'd like to be able to use my phone as a remote control, but I can't find anywhere in the wireless menu to make it available, whereas on the RX10 it's easy to do this.

The 16 - 35 is a good lens, though there are quite pronounced CA against blue skies that don't disappear using the LR tool. It's something you'd need to be pixel peeping to see though. So overall I'm happy. It is a camera I'm happy to take up mountains with me.

Some from today and this evening:

All with Sony A7R

Sony 70 - 200 f/4G - while trying the lens out - f/8 70mm 1/200 ISO 1600

16 - 35 f/4

This one breaks the rules on composition perhaps, but rightly or wrongly, I quite like it. I notice that like the 645Z have to be careful with how highlights are dealt with as banding appears slightly in the jpg (absent from the tif file)

16 - 35 at 35. I wanted to get the day old moon into the shot without it looking as small as a star...

I tried that here (if my 6D had the DR of your Sony, I would've pulled the shadows a lot more):

Am in Venice for a few days and was hoping for a good few days shooting. I am full of cold and the weather is appalling. Poured down all day and doesn't look ti be improving util the day I depart.

Here are a few photos I took today - took more, but still to process them, and don't have the energy right now
