Given the large lens selection now available for M4/3 and the fact that the Nikon 1's smaller sensor will get the best parts of the M4/3 lenses, this seems like something somebody should make. Can the 1 series manual focus?

The Nikon 1 has a proprietary lens mount etc so the M4/3 lenses won't fit straight on. Someone might make an adaptor eventually but they would need to believe there was a market first. You are more likely to be able to get adaptors for 35mm SLR mounts like Pentax K, Olympus OM and Nikon F and maybe Leica M long before anything for M4/3. You won't have any aperture control for M4/3 lenses and there are way more interesting legacy lenses that might be worth losing AF etc to play with.

Doesn't much matter... All of the AF Micro Four Thirds lenses have focus-by-wire - so there's no mechanical linkage between focus ring and focus mechanism. Most of them are also software-corrected for distortion, with the correction-information embedded in the RAW metadata.

So technically you could do it, but you wouldn't be able to focus (at all) and most of you're lenses would look like fisheyes
