If this had a hot-shoe, it would already be on pre-order for me! Even without, I'm thinking of replacing my XZ-1 with this. Same fast F/1.8 aperture at the wide end but with a much bigger sensor. Also has Sony's image stacking technologies for low-light shots. Very nice carry around camera.

I really like it for times when I only want to carry a compact but the price to pay for miniaturization is too high right now. I'll bite when it's around $400 maybe.

exactly at this price i can have a Q and a couple of lenses, smaller sensor sure, but more flexible setup

I love the ballsy concept of the Q, and this Sony is great.

My opinion is that the Nokia 808 will own them both.

***All will do great in the right hands etc bollox*** my take is that something BETTER can do better in the right hands.

the nokia has one major issue the operating system. it has little to no support form app vendors
the same thing in an iPhone or an Android would dominate the cell market
still a teeny lens on a teeny sensor
Itll be interesting to see the next iPhone response in the fall

Depending on what happens with the Sony label...

Sony may very well be working on a rangefinder; and the idea that retro tech is selling quite well right now. Also. that including this rangefinder that Sony is working on at least two non-slr models that will have a hotshoe

My guess is like the Fuji it will not be a "true" RF but a hybrid. Accurate true RF mechanisms are expensive to make for the most part
the hybrid idea works very well in the context of an AF RF type camera though. (and the nex 7 has an RF like feel with the EVF just due to placement)

I've been looking for something like this for a while. Back in 2004 I frequently shot with a Casio EX-P600, which was very similar to this camera (P/A/S/M), but only had a 6MP sensor.

I was hoping this would be an APS-C compact camera with fixed zoom. Basically a NEX with an integrated pancake zoom.

I'll probably pass on this - too expensive for a camera with roughly the same performance as the Nikon 1.

I'm waiting for Sony to release that rumoured pancake zoom for the NEX. That would probably suit my needs better.

I'm thinking for low light this will be significantly better than the Nikon J1/V1. The lens is F/1.8 at the wide end compared to F/3.5 for the Nikon. So you can shoot 2 stops lower ISO when shooting wide!

It looks like a killer pocket camera, I'd love to replace my Canon S90 with this one day. This kind of camera makes me realise the camera manufacturers are on the right track... bigger sensors in smaller bodies
