Order your d600 now! (aus)

Just noticed this on an aussie website;

Nikon D600 Digital SLR Cameras - RYDA Digital SLR Cameras

"Note: We will be taking orders for the NEW Nikon D600 as of 12.01am 12th September 2012 and expect to be able to fulfill orders with 10 days, hopefully sooner."

But $2699, I hope thats full retail! Thats two grand over a k30 from the same place.

Hmm. Pricier than I thought it would be.

They have the D800 for $700 more at $3,408 (body only). D800 is still more bang for the buck.

They also have 5D2's for sale at $2,181...

If Pentax do a 24MP FF, I guess the D600 price is about the ball-park for what any Pentax FF would be, so that's something interesting about the D600.

I kinda expected that it would take up the D700 price point.

Those doom sayers who prophesied the end of Pentax with the coming of $1500 FF need a reality check.

That said, its still a good price for what I'd expect to be a good camera.

Well if that is the aussie price and in relation to the Aussie D800 price I would bet in a US price of $2200-$2300 so a lot more than the rumours and about where this camera should be in relation to the better featured A99 from Sony
Gives hope for Pentax being able to compete with a model in the new year (Given Sony is even slapping this sensor in a Fixed lens compact they must have improved the ability to churn out full frame sensors

Official announcement is apparently Thursday for the D600 - at this rate there will be little to announce at Photokina proper

It will sell like hotcakes if priced at $2300 USD.

Ryda are just guessing, and guessing a higher price than expected to reduce their risk. Real price will be less, possibly much less.

well thursday will answer the question
it does look a good bit of kit though if the price is right. i think the $500 is wildly optimistic though because it kills 2 other models in the nikon line then (d7000 D300s- not to mention any possible replacements like a D400 or D7100/7200)

Well, the day Pentax will do a FF will be a sad day for RH : he won't have any reason to complain about Pentax !

I think you under-estimate his capacity to whine and complain. He'll always find something. He is expert at making mountains out of molehills.

It wouldn't make much sens to Nikon to price the D600 at around the price of a top APS-C, and there isn't much room for them to move in developing a D300s successor if priced much less.

Seems Ryda may be right : http://nikonrumors.com/2012/09/12/nikon-d600-price-in-japan-¥215000-around-2700.aspx

QuoteQuote:
The price of the Nikon D600 in Japan is rumored to be ¥215,000 (around $2,700), the price of a D600 with 24-85mm kit lens: ¥270,000 (around $3,400). The camera is expected to start shipping on September 27, s012. I have received several indications that this time Nikon is ready to start shipping this camera very soon after the announcement.

The price of the Nikon 1 18.5mm f/1.8 mirrorless lens is expected to be around ¥26,000 (around $300) and will be available on November 1st, 2012 in black, white and silver color.

The US prices of Nikon gear are usually lower, but at that point I think we can forget about a sub-$2,000 full frame Nikon camera. The D800 costs around ¥298,000 in Japan and $3000 in the US. With this ratio, I expect the D600 US price to be around $2,100.
