I hope they've solved the purple fringe issue with this new camera. I have the iPhone5, not because Apple is the home of hype, but because it suits what I want a smart phone for and, say what you like, Apple's products are well-built. I have no doubt that Nokia's offerings are equally good (hopefully, Microsoft won't ruin them), but it's no wonder the politics of denigration works so well in some jaded Western democracies, when credit can't be given for something on its own merits.

1/3 stop improvement is welcome for sure, but it wont replace the RX100 as my pocket camera.

The 1020 has the 808 hardware mated with Windows Phone software.

They're not alone in that, and I note that the same glass supplier is used on a number of touch screen phones. Glass breaks if it's mistreated. The glass back of the iPhone 4 is a different matter, as it wasn't the best material for that purpose, so it's no surprise that they went away from that in the iPhone 5. Accidents happen, but there's no accounting for people who are careless with expensive gadgets.

Ok the real reason is that it's already heavy enough without one. But I have to give Nokia credit for the durability of this thing.
Although the hype about Gorilla glass - there's a youtube clip of some guy hitting it with knife, nails, etc - didn't really pan out in my case. Had the phone sharing the same pocket as my keys once, and the front ended up with a couple long scratches.

The 5S camera is killer. f/2.2 3-element, apparently a high-quality sensor (the samples show good sharpness *and* color rendition), 10fps burst, 120fps video... that's already better than most "real" cameras. The smart flash which matches the ambient light is a nice touch too.

If this is a trend, it's the nail on the coffin of the P&S market. Heck, it could very well burry the Pentax Q and a couple others too by the quality of the samples I saw. Only reason to buy a camera for casual use would be for wide/tele.

The new Sony Xperia Z1... 20.7 Mp, Exmor RS sensor at 1/2.3-inch, 27 mm Sony G lens, F2.0, 8x digital zoom. You can submerge it in water to a depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes (dont try this with your iPhone). The rest of the phone has top of the line specs too...probably my next phone.

You're right, Bhairavp - 1/1.2" vs1/1.5".

Both have it all over the iPhone's sensor size, which Apple's press release refuses to mention, other than spin about it being15% bigger than its predecessor (which was 1/3.2").
