Just the other day, my wife commented, "We haven't seen any deer this Winter".
Then at lunchtime today, we saw the scene below.
I wonder how long the local squirrels will be talking about the interloper eating their food.

Taken early this morning through a big window at one end of our study. The old steel picnic table has been a bird/squirrel feeder almost all the time we've been in this house. Birds, this squirrel and others had all the snow cleared off the table by noon looking for seeds that I spread on it few days earlier.

This deer seems to be an ‘equal opportunity’ intruder.

I was watching the bird and squirrel feeders when I suddenly realized I was being watched from the bush between them.

The 'squirrel' with hooves and a very large stomach was back - two hours after dawn
{the squirrel-feeder is up the tree, above her back}.

Our cat "Annie" was fascinated by the two sizes of 'squirrel' our feeder attracts.

After studying the situation from a distance for awhile, one of the squirrels decided that the deer was less dangerous than the alpha squirrel - besides food was involved.
