I was hoping curved sensors would be confined to fixed lens cameras. But I guess Sony expects a profit by making old glass obsolete and making people buy new "curved sensor" lenses. At the same time, they would monopolize the sensor market, because they will probably patent the curve and prevent other companies from competing

Don't worry - Samsung already has curved TVs, so they're sure to copy this if it's any good!

Since Pentax doesn't have FF yet, might as well!

I would love to see a Pentax fixed lens camera with this thing inside.

If the RX2 borrows from RX100Mk3 that popup EVF, and the price is a tad lower, the RX2 may become a hit. But I suspect the price will remain same, or even increase.

It really interests me what kind of gadgetry/wizardry Pentax and Ricoh are cooking and working on. I hope traditional DSLR department is not all they are working on.

The curved sensor would most likely be paired to a fixed focal length lens. By matching the two, you could have a small and simple lens (which also means cheap to make) that has no problems with vignetting in the corners.

Must there always be a problem to inspire improvement and innovation? Some damn good things which posed no problems are now considered obsolete because "better" replaced them. Not everything, but most.

You are right, unfortunately, and is especially true in today's digital world.
