If true, that'll be 6 (?) since 2012?

Edit: whoops, forgot the D4 and D4S.

So

D4, and D4S
D800, D800E, and D810
DF
D600 and D610 refresh

People keep saying the DSLR market is in tough times, but the average $ spent per camera keeps going up and up.

If the rumor is true there would be five FF DSLR's from nikon.

I'll group them as

Sports Pro
Landscape Pro
Advanced Consumer (New Rumored)
Consumer
Specialty (Df)

And yet, Nikon refuses to make the D300s successor that so many Nikonians want.

Go figure...

It does seem sort of crazy. At some point, Nikon is selling against themselves. Particularly if they haven't sold pre-existing cameras that are still out there. As far as I know, you can still buy plenty of last generation full frames from Nikon. Why have multiple different models at such relatively close price points, I wonder?

Five lines does seem like one too many. I think 3 makes sense, plus the 'oddball' Df.

I think you can still buy D800's, but they're clearing them out pretty quick. I haven't seen D600's for a while, but I haven't been looking, either.

Amazon still has plenty of units, although I suppose you could buy a 600 and get free upgrade to a 610 in the US.
