Very cool indeed. I imagine this improves the handling with larger and adapted lenses, too?

But the beauty of a6000 is the small body and the professional functions/IQ. This made the body way too bulky in my perspective.

Yes, that's one of the A6000's attractions - its size - but that advantage starts to diminish when you add (for example) a K-mount adaptor and a good-sized lens. In those situations, I can see this grip potentially improving handling for some (much as I prefer having the grip on my K-3 when shooting with larger lenses)...

What is the purpose of the dummy device inserted in the camera? What is the purpose of the little cable attached?

So far as I can tell, the "dummy" device extends the power connectors from inside the camera's battery compartment to the base of the camera to mate with the grip. The cable is required for the grip's shutter release to fire the camera's shutter...

But the battery compartment door is closed. That's what I had thought before the door was shown closed. I am stumped.

Yup, confused me too. I think there's a little removable or pull-back tab on the battery door, specifically for this purpose...

I dug out my a5000, and I can confirm that there is a small rubber plug door that can be opened, allowing contacts to be exposed. Sony probably designed this for their AC adapter. I have to say that this is a clever design.

I found another video that explains it. The host is a bit unpolished but the information is good.

I actually wished that Pentax has an option like this for my K-S2 (and it will be good if the grip actually takes AA batteries).

In terms of little rubber plugs on the battery door, the K-x had one ("electric cable cover") to allow cables from the AC adapter to fit through. The K-S2 certainly has one too ("connection cable cover"), see p-33 of the KS-2 manual:

Then in theory a 3rd party grip is possible. Why no one makes this for the K-S2?

Looking at the diagram, the opening filled by that rubber grommet exits at the side, not the base. A connector sticking through that wouldn't easily clip into an attachment... you'd probably need another small cable.

That's better than nothing, a grip would be very helpful considering that the battery life of K-S2 is on the short side for a DSLR.
