I was walking along a path yesterday in the wildlife area, and encountered a leaf suspended in mid air in the middle of the path. It was startling, to say the least. On close examination I could just see a single thread strand, (spider?) attached to the top of the stem. It was all but invisible, unless I caught it as a highlight off the sun. You may be able to see the strand in the image below.

I was using the A7 with the mf Loxia 50, and had a devil of a time trying to focus on it, due to the leaf swinging and rotating in the breeze.

Now that the leaves are 50% down and the undergrowth died back, I'm noticing things that were hidden from view on previous walks. This is one of those times I wished I had a longer lens with me. (I'm saving my pennies to buy a Loxia 85 f2.4 to complement my 21 and 50.) I could crop and enlarge the shot, but I always like to use the full image crop, since it better reminds me of the experience.

I suspect this is a animal lair, and by the size of it, it must have been a damn big Chipmunk! You can see it is a fairly large log, and the lair opening was easily 24" across. It is down in a gully, and I wasn't about to climb down to get a closer shot, just in case I met the Chipmunk.

This one's from last week. It was surprisingly hot under the sun, and one of the few areas where the trail ventures out from under the tree cover. A7 + Loxia 21.

from my daughter's marching band competition tonight. I'm really impressed with the focusing & speed of the Sony A7R3 & Sigma 150-600 (Sony native mount, not adapted)

after alot or trial and error (mostly error), Finally got Jupiter with some banding detail and three moons. I've been able to grab it before on my K-1 w/ 150-450 but not is as much detail and this a totally new camera & lens so I wanted to push it and see what it can really do. Still need to do some work but it's getting there. Sony A7R3 & Sigma 150-600mm

I was out this afternoon after several days of dismal rainy weather. I ran across this single brilliant red leaf, but I could not get closer to it to make it larger for more emphasis. This was with my A7 + Loxia 21 at f16. Somebody with more experience than me, could probably mask and brighten up the leaf in post for added impact.
