Barrel distortion M* 300 on A7III

Hey!
Total newby here. I just purchased a SMC M*300 F4 and I'm getting a huge amount of distortion on my A7iii. I'm using a K&F converter which works perfectly with a FA 50mm Macro.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it like this with all telephoto lenses? Help!

Something is wrong. Maybe the lens was reassembled with one or more elements reversed.

Can you find a Pentax SLR or dSLR to check with the 300?

I can see now why it was on a relatively inexpensive 250€. No mention of distortion though so this is when PayPal protection comes in handy.

I was wondering if it has any artistic value whatsoever. Maybe I should keep it for a discount?

Thanks for all replies. I'll try it out on a friend's Pentax SLR but I reckon it will be faulty too.
