Yeah, I knew she hadn't ever shot a high-end Canon before and knew nothing about them. No one else reports lock-ups as a problem on the R5.

EF/s lens discontinuations continue.

Well RF is expanding, many patents and consistent releases.

Dslr shooters are getting less options.

I don't think people will have a hard time finding new EF lenses for some time and the used market is huge. Even for lenses that were not made in big numbers you can still easily find, I know KEH gets a lot of the EF50mm F1.0 lenses and that is a rare lens.

Canon made it pretty clear a couple years ago that they were done with developing DSLR's and EF lenses. Switching production lines from EF to RF was inevitable but their are people who still don't get it, they think because Canon hasn't officially announced the end they will continue.

If old stuff is still popular and you want them to buy only the new stuff, you just have to discontinue the old products.
With the new lenses being significantly more expensive that pulls in more money.
Good for the manufacturer, bad for the would be buyers.
