Whatever Happened to Kodak High Definition?

Has Kodak stopped making the High Definition 400? Or did they "rebrand" it again? I can't find it anywhere.
On a related note - I just started shooting Fuji Superia Xtra instead. I have been told (would appreciate opinions) that this is closer to the the High Def than to anything else Kodak makes.
Thanks.

Thanks. I thought Ultra Max waas the new Royal Gold - no?

Chris, when you say "better", do you mean better than High Definition, better than Superia, or both?

As far as I can tell, the current c41 negative 135 Kodak production consists of:

1. Under the "Professional" line

Portra 160NC & 160VC
Portra 400NC & 400VC
Portra 800
Ektar 100
BW400CN

2. Consumer Lines

UltraMax 400
Kodak Gold 200
BW400CN (this is in both categories due to dropping Black & White 400)

BH still has some Gold 100, Gold Max 400 in stock.

Is BW400CN really considered "professional"?

I checked the Kodak website here: Film

It doesn't list it under pro or consumer.

But for my personal taste, BW400CN is consumer and TMAX/TRIX are pro.

I'm just chiming in because I don't love BW400CN.

It says professional on the box...go figure...

It is also listed with the professional B&W products here:

Ditto what Steve said. Try developing TMAX/TRIX in C41 system. That's the point of it. Some people can get results with it if used a certain way. I don't mind using it when I am busy and C41 is the only thing I can get done locally at my 1 B&M.

SV & 21mm Tamron Adapt-A-Matic and 55mm/1.8 S.T.

I tried B&W for the first time a few months ago, with the Kodak BW400CN, and I am pleased with the results, here are a few shot with my old Ricoh KR-5 Super.

Well, XP1 and XP2 were always marketed as "pro" so why not?

These days, I tend to like the Kodak version a little better than the Ilford. It has a bit more snap, but it is an entirely different animal from Tmax.

Just picked up a box of the Kodak High Definition 400 b/c it was on sale. It was the last box though. under $10 for 3 rolls. I know absolutely nothing about film so I figured why not.

I saw some HD at a CVS yesterday. I bought some CVS 400 asa color because it was one sale: 4 rolls for $6.33. Says on the box it is made in Japan, so I am guessing a Fuji product.

I really liked what I got out of the one roll of Ultramax I tried in my Konica S III (it was a month out of date and half price):
