I just got an ME Super too. Gonna go pick up some batteries now, it didn't come with any, bought it from Keh.com and it's in excellent condition. The viewfinder is awesome, so much better than the K-x. I had a K-x but it was stolen, along with all my lenses. So now I have the M 50mm 1.7 that the ME came with, and my crappy Quantaray 100-300mm 4.5-6.7 lens.

I bought the ME Super because I just started a b&w photography class. She's making us use Tri-X 400. I've never done any developing before, this should be fun. I'm surprised how small the ME is, I knew it was small, but wasn't excepting it to be THAT small lol. Seeing this beautiful viewfinder kinda makes me curious as to how much better the MX's viewfinder is.

the later generation of SLR film are quite small, I have a ZX-50 and it's really small (think oly pl1 size), but nice grip on it.

Developing film is a drag, i did it in HS, we didn't have any machine so all the shaking/mixing was by hand, i got real annoyed lol. I would take a digital class VS a film class, everything is digital these days.

I do not know if the MX viewfinder is any better than the one in the ME Super.
The ME-S is a pleasure to use for focusing.

BUT developing film is 1/3 the fun for me, printing is the other 2/3s!
Even my 8yr old has learned and now loves developing film; she is far less sloppy than I am keeping the seconds for the next twist-n-turn.
I can't wait fro spring so that I can take her into the darkroom (it is too cold now)

You will really enjoy that ME Super, I have one as well it is an SE edition,I even have the MEII winder for it as well and it still works flawlessly, I have the 1:1.4 50mm lens as well and have been using this lens since my high school years back in the early 80s, I have shot and put together many slide shows for our church tours, I was the photographer for my high school choir and that camera was all I had, it NEVER let me down. I could always count on it to meter correctly, I got used to the split screen focusing as well. Nowadays that camera sits up on a shelf with my most prized possessions in fact it IS my most prized possession, I haven't ran a roll of film through it for 7 years now but that don't bother me none, I am planning on one day sending it off and having it CLAed and basically using it for B&W shooting but that will be a ways down the road for me. Just recently I got introduced to the DSLR world with my new K-x. I have been experimenting with my old 50 mm lens on that camera, and let me tell you brother......I get way nicer images with that old lens then I do with my kit 16~55 lens that came with my K-x, although that kit lens has it's place for mainly all around family gatherings and parties and such where I don't want to really mess with manual settings and focus on basically having fun at these get togethers. Try you old lens out on your K-x, you will be extremely pleased with the results and will come back in here and thank me for the advice lol.
I too have a Quantary lens from the old days 28mm~85mm 1:3.5~4.5, if it is junk then I beg to differ with you on that, I have always been extremely pleased with this lense, I picked it up at a flea market many years ago for around $40, I have used it on my K-x and it works awesome on it.

Unfortunately the 28mm has a pretty gnarly scratch on it, so I was going to use it mainly for digital with PP.

I really wouldn't bother.

Another repair shop in the UK is JP Cameras in Edinburgh. Not a Pentax specialist but he does all sorts of repairs to all sorts of cameras. Google will find him for you.
