ME Super "strange" problem

Just found a near-mint Pentax ME Super, everything works and looks fantastic. BUT, it won't focus at infinity with either of the Pentax M lenses I've got for it. Close up, to about 6 - 8ft. it focus's fine. Then from there to infinity, the lens comes against the stop and is still OOF.

At first I thought it might be the f2.0 50mm lens, so I put on the 28mm f2.8 and it's exactly the same. Being new to Pentax, am I doing something wrong? Or is it time to send it to Eric for repair?
Thanks for any ideas

Is it unsharp only in the view finder or also on the film?
If only in the viewfinder, then it may be a misaligned mirror and/or focussing screen.
Check, if the screen is correctly in its holder.

There's no diopter on the viewfinder? apart from that, vf screen out of whack is the most likely cause.

It could be that the mirror is not returning to the proper position.
Awhile back, I was playing with a Canon Ftb and it had the same symptoms. I noticed the mirror was slightly up so I gave it a gentle push down and then it worked great.

Again,
Thanks to all for the very helpful replies ! After I run a quick roll of 24 shots through the ME Super, I'll check the mirror and focus screen to see if one is out of place.

I wondered about that. I get similar symptoms when there is no diopter (contact lens) in my eye.
