Hi there,

I'm trying to fix - or - explore the insides of a camera; which ever wins out.

I figured out how to remove one out of three knobs on the top, but I can't seem to figure out how to remove the wind lever or the ISO/re-wind lever.

any ideas?

You may want to skim through this first before continuing your work on the camera: http://pentax-manuals.com/manuals/service/me_sm.pdf. I haven't disassembled an ME, but a few K1000s and some screws turn clockwise to remove them, opposite of the usual direction. The K1000 service manual identifies these screws. Again, I don't know about your ME, but hopefully the manual linked above answers some of your questions.

The cap on the wind lever is threaded on with a reverse thread. It may also be secured with some sort of thread locker.
I found this out when the cap on mine suddenly fell off one day. Somehow it had unscrewed itself. I think may 2 year old may have had something to do with it

To remove the rewind knob on most cameras, you open the back and place a pencil in the prongs of the rewind shaft to hold it stationary. Turn the rewind knob counter-clockwise and off it comes.

Once you have rewind lever off, back will latch and lock if you close it,can open
with a paperclip that has a sharp "J" hook bent on end.Insert through opening
for rewind shaft,hook lock mechanism and pull up,it'll pop open.Handy link will walk
you through most "M" bodies.

Some 'scondrel' is buying those things up KC,not enough 'dirty talk' to describe them.
Mode dial on ME super comes off with top after rewind lever,meter dial,and other
screws that secure(top) have been removed.Be very careful,theres small spring
inside of shutter button that can and WILL pop out and go crazy places.
Set dial in auto also before removing,for proper registration on re-assembly.

I managed to take the top off, play a little with a spring until I realised its role, didn't realize what was wrong with the frame counter, and put the top back on. Too bad I lost a screw.

'Stuff' happens KC. Over here,drug stores sell small repair kits for eyeglasses.
Several small flat head metric machine screws are included.Couple that I have
will fit in a "pinch",not exact and have to 'force' a liitle.But,'they go'
Maybe if you can come up with something like.
That pre-load spring for mode dial lock is a 'living entity',wants to take itself
for a 'walk' all the time. Good luck.

Living small parts that want to escape your clutches can be tamed if you take the thing apart in a clear, fairly large plastic bag.
