How to clean the chrome cover on cameras?

You can use a pencil rubber to polish up the chrome, pencil with one of those small rubber on the end..works nice.

There is stuff called DeoxIT made by a company called Caig Laboratories. You put some on a Q-tip spread it on the camera chrome top, let it sit for 5 mins. and then wipe it off. It does a wonderful job of removing corrosion and making the chrome look new or at least newer. It is sold at many electronics supply stores or Micro-tools.com. Sadly it is not cheap.

Do you think using isopropyl alcohol on a black enameled camera or the coating of a lens will do any harm?

It should not hurt the enamel, but I would be hesitant on the lens. Much depends on the concentration.
