BIG Score!

After two failed attempts to buy a 28mm lens on ebay, I decide to check my local classifieds today. A very nice gentleman who lived only 15 minutes away sold me the following for $50:

- Pentax KM body
- Pentax 55mm f1.8 lens
- Pentax 28mm f3.5
- Pentax teleconverter
- Honeywell flash
- remote cable
- a few filters
- a nice bag, and other odds and ends.

Do I ever feel lucky!!! Just thought I'd share this story with you folks. How does the KM compare to my trusty K1000? I think my K1000 is about 15 years newer. Thanks.

He shoots and he scores! Whoever owned it sure looks like they took real good care of it. Now show us some results from it . . . ;-)

Whaaaaaa - the KM is an upgrade from the K1000, that KM is actually the gold bar of that lot of stuff you got by far...

Lucky find! The KM is quite similar to the K1000 but with a few more bells and whistles (the K series was essentially K1000->KM->KX->K2->K2DMD). The M series 28mm f/3.5 lens is reputedly a better lens than the f/2.8 version and stopped down a little on a par with the K28/3.5 (I have both the K and M 28/3.5s).

So sweet! looks to be in great shape too, the kit.
kind of reminds me - one day about 10 or so years ago I got a yen for the old Dynaco A-25. I looked through the local classifieds that week, which I rarely do, and lo and behold: a guy not 5 minutes away was selling A-25XL's for peanuts. OK, so the son had blown a tweeter and put in a Radio Shack horn tweet, but I had a spare set of SEAS tweeters that matched (and improved on) the originals.

Hobbies are so much fun. Congrats again.

Congratulations on the kit. Your KM is the value queen of the K-series bodies and is the model that I recommend over the K1000.
