Made a guess as to the proper EI for this expired roll, and wound up underexposing most of the frames. Ah well. It also looks like my Helioplan may be slightly de-centered, as the left side of the frame is soft on every photo shot with it. Ah well again.

The third one looks to be really well exposed for such a difficult scene.

Thanks. I'd say it was skill, but that was really more pure luck as I didn't have time to meter that one.

Nice photo! I did not like your description of the RR 80s problems though. I have a cache of 120 in the freezer and am now wondering if it is going to be problematic. I guess there is nothing to do but shoot it and hope for the best.

Steve
Thanks. I ordered some new 80S and they came in boxes with the roll wrapped in plastic like other BW films in lieu of being unwrapped in a plastic tube. And they also have new backing paper. One of those rolls developed okay.

This is about the only frame salvageable from 2 rolls of Retro 80S due to emulsion flaws and backing paper damage. One frame even had a rectangular outline made up of hard debris on the emulsion like it formed around a piece of tape or something. Also, there were short, wavy black lines that look like blades of grass in patches. Then there were black specs from missing emulsion. Geesh ...

Nice picture and a worrying array of problems with the films. Reminds me of an Amazon Spain review of HP5+ where apparently what arrived was an open film case with nothing but the butt of a used cigarette in it. I suspect he didn't get many good shots from that one.

These two links provide most of the details:

Film Review: Infrared Photography with JCH StreetPan 400 - Japan Camera Hunter

Infrared Film Shootout: JCH Streetpan vs. Rollei Infrared - Japan Camera Hunter

I bought a cheap 720nm filter from China & added 5 stops. Possibly should have added more, but being a cheap filter there were no details about what its filter factor was.
Thanks!
