Poll: are you a Pentax film camera collector?

How many operating-condition Pentax film cameras do you own? Include the point-and-shoots, 110, medium format, 35mm bodies -- basically anything that shoots film and is branded Pentax or Asahi.

Don't include digitals; don't include other brands regardless of mount type (that can be a different poll); don't include any junker/parts units.

I'm mostly trying to figure out how much company I have in this hobby. Or sickness, as my wife would have it.

I have two MZ-5N, two "Made in Japan" MZ-6, one MZ-7, and one each SF1, SF10, and ME. I bought the SF's for the lenses and never used the camera bodies. All the MZ's are constantly in use. The SF1 came with F50mm/1.7 lens. I restored MZ-5n and 7 and therefore am a proud owner of these cameras. They are also very effective Lomo cameras when fitted with F28mm/2.8 or wider lens.

I have a dozen that will at least make an image under some circumstances. I included the Honeywells

I do not think of myself as a pentax collector however.

In addition to the MZ-S and SF-1 we have a Pentax 120SW pocket camera that we call "Pinochio" - the zoom barrel sticks way out there at 120mm. I don't count the Spotmatic F because the shutters are damaged and it does not work.

Given that at the start of 2008, I had no Pentax or Asahi film cameras at all and now I have 7 or 8, I must be a little crazy.

I seem to be the only one in the 21+ club so far, with 25 hoarded as of today - was hoping to find Nesster would be there too, but alas.

Nesster, you own a lot of different types of cameras, right? Also, was there ever a Honeywell from the period of their marketing arrangement with Asahi/Pentax that didn't also say Pentax on it?

LOL, I was just tweaking the poll with the Honeywell crack. AFAIK they all said Pentax too, at least the SLRs did. I seem to recall seeing a Honeywell p&s though.

I shudder to even think of counting all the cameras I've accumulated. I think I have a baker's dozen of those folding cameras. No, probably more, I just remembered another couple.

But I really admire brand loyality - the idea of a deep collection within a make, and the knowledge of all the variations, that's just cool.

One MZ5n and two A110. Both of the A110 I have owned since the mid 80s and one bought with two lenses and the other with a third lens. My wife has a SF1n

Thirteen Pentax film bodies for me. Twelve K series and one 67.

I use all of them, except for two K2's. (I have a boxed mint black/sliver that I'm keeping for spares)

Phil.

You wouldn't be here if you weren't crazy. It's a condition of membership.

I am really bad

First of all, I only considered SLRs, but I think I have a film P&S as well.

Second, IN addition to 2 pentax SLRs (KX and PZ-1) I also have a ricoh XR-2s (should I change my vote since ricoh has always been considered a poor man's pentax, and since ricoh now owns pentax) and a Nikon FE, and I Yashika TLR

I have half a dozen but I don't just collect them I use them. Well, most of them, a couple I don't like and so they are sitting in a box, laugh.

I have my original Ashai SP, an Ashai SPII (Queenie), a Honeywell SPII, a P3, an ME Super and now my K1000. I don't count the newer half digital one that I got out at the flea market yet. I don't know if the thing even works. I use Queenie the most but I do like the K1000 too. The Honeywell is in working condition but it's mostly a backup to Queenie, and my old SP, I used a lot before I got Queenie, but only take that one out rarely now. I've tested the P3 but I've never used it beyond that, ditto the ME Super. I just don't really like either the P3 or the ME very much. One of these days I'll unload them I suppose. Ultimately one of these days I'll just have Queenie, the K1000 and my K-x.

Asahi Pentax
Asahi pentax SV
Asahi Pentax Spotmatic
Asahi Pentax MX
Asahi Pentax 6x7

I used to own quite a collection but I have mostly sold it all off. I realized that I neither needed or wanted a collection.

At one time I had three: a KX, a P3, and a ZX-M. The ZX-M suffered the plastic gear syndrome and died. The P3 has not been used since I started bulk-rolling my own film. I didn't have the foresight to buy the DX coded canisters and I don't have the ambition to encode the canisters myself. It's a shame because I otherwise like that camera.

The KX is my favorite though. I bought it from a forum member here, and it arrived well-used but well-treated. I shoot left-eyed, but the lever advance activated meter does not bother me. I'd love to get another as a back up, but I really don't "need" one. I'd rather get a K series 24mm or 28mm.

And having seen the black SV that Séamuis re-covered (from another thread), I have begun to seriously covet one.
