Favorite K-Mount Camera for Takumar Lenses

What is your favorite K-Mount camera to use with Takumar M42 lenses. I have set aside an MZ-M for that purpose and just leave the screw mount adapter on it. Curious what other people do?

I've only one Camera (K10D) and each M42 has it's own adapter ring.

Since we're in the FILM camera section:

I like the Program Plus with M42's - the aperture priority works great, and I just leave the pentax M42 adapter in the camera. I'd think the Super Program would work equally well, and ME Super also. With these manual focus cameras you get the focus aids too, which makes them a bit easier to focus with than the af motorized cameras.

And really: the metering is much better than on the digital bodies!

I stick with M42 bodies for those lenses. I have an adapter and several K-mount bodies, but I find I focus easiest with the fairly plain screens of the SV or Spotmatic. They aren't as bright, but the focus is more distinct.

I mainly use them on my early model Spotmatic, I occasionally us them on my K mount film and digital bodies.

Edit: Duh, I just read the op question again regarding Takumars on "K mount bodies". My spotmatic aside I'd have to say may PZ-1P and my *DL2 get more "Takumar time" than any of my K mount bodies.

K-mount bodies? My Program Plus or either of my Ricoh XR-2s or Ricoh XR7. Aperture-priority rules when using a manual or preset aperture lens. The KX works OK too, but is not quite as easy to use.

unless Av style AE is a priority, I couldn't even begin to wonder why you would prefer to use M42 lenses on a kmount body vs. an m42 body. to answer the question though, the best I can with my limited experience with the combination, say it was my MX, because the small body and small lenses made a great pair. but then M series lenses weren't much bigger in most cases, so its kind of moot. I guess if i were to pick what I think would be the best, I would say the LX, because quite frankly, in the world of Kmount, it doesn't matter what lens is mounted to the front, any lens in combination with the LX's meter system is as good as it gets.

Sorry about the hellish green light over the LX. I can only compare the Takumar 1.4/50 with the K 1.4/50 and both 2/35mm lenses as you see on the picture. In both cases weight and size are less with the Takumars, but it is not a big deal, I like the K lenses too. However, it is the metal built that is so beautiful. And I think (but not sure yet) I prefer the prints I get from the Takumars.

well I would never argue the photographic magic of any takumar. that goes against my most core of beliefs. a sin of the highest order in all honesty. but I just thought it strange to comment on how small takumars are by showing a photo of one that I was almost sure was bigger and heaver than the Kmount version! you can't go wrong either way though in terms of performance. I just think the idea that using takumars because they are smaller or lighter, wouldn't be the best reasoning as it isn't always the case. that of course has no real merit in the face of all the other qualities of Takumars, especially since as you say, the difference is very little at least in a lot of equal focal length/max aperture Kmount counterparts.
