I noticed a lot of people are shooting transparency films. I have recently been a little confused about this. When you're doing this do can you print conventionally or is everything scanned first and then sent to printers?

Nowadays yes everything is scanned and sent to printers. You could print transparencies (slides) traditionally from an enlarger, but you had to use a different (positive) paper. The other way was an inter-negative and print from that.

I'm brand new to film myself and got a K1000 two weeks ago. I plan on doing that whole year in film with one camera and one lens thing. After reading around a bit I decided on Tri-X 400. I'm on my third roll right now. I decided to try my hand at developing it myself too. It actully wasn't as scary as I expected it to be. Here's a sample. I bought myself a V500 scanner so I could say I did everything myself.

Plustek make very good 35mm scanners, better results than any flatbed. Can't do medium format though.

Harder and harder to find film and a good lab in Minny.

Any of you buy it online, send it off to be developed? Do you get back negatives only, or can you get a CD with scans?
