altopiet: It might be fun to repair it myself. I'll read through the info you link me to. If I feel confident enough to perform the repair I might attempt to.

If all fails, I'd reassemble and send out to Eric, then.

While we're at it, is it possible to exchange the focusing screen for a better one? Anyone made that mod?

The camera wins, I admit defeat. I'm kind of afraid of disassembling to a point where I completely screw up the camera. K1000 will be sent in for repairs ASAP. Thank you all!
