K1000 with SE sticker

Hello - I am new to Pentax film cameras and have a K1000 that has a silver SE sticker where the engraves SE would be. It has a horizontal split focus with a prism ring. Is this a K1000 or K1000SE? Your help is appreciated.

The SE has a diagonal split screen I believe. Sticker might have been an add on. Somebody wanted to make it look like an SE in the shop maybe to make it seem more exclusive?

My K1000 had the horizontal split screen and it wasn't an SE.

Both K1000 SE bodies I owned had a horizontal split image screen.
My guess is that the OP has a very late K1000 SE with a plastic top plate.
To save manufacturing costs, maybe they took a plain K1000, put a split screen in and then a SE sticker on it.

Thanks for your responses. The SSN on this camera is consistent with a '77 - '78 purchase date. The top and bottom plates are metal and the sticker appears to be of the same period as the camera.

Interesting, do you have any photos?
What us the ISO range?. Does it have ISO 20?
Does it have a microprism collar around the split image?

Just took a few. The ISO range is 20 to 3200 and the split image has a microprism collar.

Cool leatherette.
Looks like maybe a very early SE model. It's got the early top with the bump between the prism and rewind.

Yes, cool leatherette...not original, perhaps?

I don't know about this camera. It appears to be an early body, but the SE sticker seems like an afterthought. Is there any chance this was a regional model, say Europe or Japan only?

One thing I noticed...broken rewind lever?

The rewind lever works. It could be a regional model, but would have had to travel quite a long way. It was bought at the local swap meet here in Southern Cal.

The K1000SE should have the s/n on the bottom plate and they are not made in Japan. Yours looks like an original 1976 K1000 possibly with a Honeywell modification.

My mistake! The screen on my laptop is a little too contrasty and it looked like the lever had "slumped" in the way that they do when the spring is gone.

I thought the same thing Steve when I saw the first photo. It looked like the rewind lever was missing from the knob due to it being almost the same color as the background.

The leatherette looks really nice!

This is from Bojidar Dimitrov's K-Mount Page K1000 under K1000 SE.
"This body is basically a K1000 with a slightly increased film ISO-range and a split-image/microprism/matte focusing screen"

He lists the K1000 SE iso range as 20-3200. He lists the K1000 iso range as 32-3200.
