First roll through new to me K1000

My new-to-me K1000 arrived yesterday so I thought I'd get busy and run some rolls of film through it. I didn't even bother to put a battery in it so my light meter was nothing more than a calibrated eyeball

I shot these with Kodak BW400CN - I paid $2.50 to have the film developed only and then just scanned the negatives with my Canon Pixma MP970..

First shot, the wife, is as it was scanned with slight crop.

The second shot, vodka bottle, was cropped and duo-toned.

The third shot, sign, was cropped.

Almost forgot, shot with the stock-standard SMC 50mm f2.. I have since swapped that out in favor of my beloved SMC 50mm f1.7...

I'll tell ya what's fun, by me picking up a K1000, I now have an extremely reliable back-up camera to my K10D that can use all of the same lenses, sans the DA's of course.

Consider my situation, travelling across europe bouncing from hotel to site sighseeing, back to a different hotel, etc - I can and do forget sometimes to have a fully charged battery for the K10D, or worse yet, run out of memory cards. I'll just be sure to keep a few rolls of film in the bag along with the K1000 and one or two of those tiny 1.5v batteries and I'm set.

I just need to decide now if I should develop the film myself or continue to pay $2.50 per roll for the negatives.

For $2.50, I'd let them do it.
