Be grateful that Pentax is not like Nikon. From what I've seen, Nikon film bodies, good though they may be, demand three or four times the price of a similar Pentax camera.
So true! That is the main reason I don't own an FM2 or FE2!!!

I think a Nikon F100 is much cheaper than a MZ S
A Cosina by any other name...

I think he was referring to Nikon's better cameras. A FM in decent shape costs about the same as a MZ S and is at least 3x what what the very similar Pentax KX will go for.

Yes, and I got carried away with the wave. I just bought a PZ-1p, which is the second film camera I've bought, with the intention of using, in the last 25 years (going back to a damnable Nikon N8008)! After spending the 90's scanning and retouching the (med. format) film of fashion photographers, I might just be far enough removed from that unpleasant history to have fun with film... ?

I think you are thinking of a FM10. A F100 is the film equivalent of the D200/D300 series. But look at the prices of F3/F4 they are less not more than a MZ-S. I have seen F100 on sale for less than 250. F100 was what is now called prosumer.

Nikon folks are in their own universe when it comes to prices and their estimates of lens quality. That is, there seems to be a self-contained value system within the brand. We could say the same of Pentax and Pentaxians.... but due to the inherently smaller supply relative to demand, Pentax prices tend to find a floor...

I know I'm penny wise and pound foolish: I bought a Nikon FE (because it is lower in price than it ought to be, as everyone goes for the FE2 on up), simply because I wanted a f/2 35mm lens (Nikon's go for less than the Pentax equivalent; Nikkors are common as dirt while Pentax ones are cherished rarities)... and an 'affordable' quality 24mm (the Nikon Ai'd 24/2.8 again is commoner, plus the after market Ai'ing, made it quite a bit cheaper than a 2.8 24mm Pentax)... But by the time I got done accumulating common Nikkors (that often are rare Pentaxes) (105mm, essentially), I realized had I saved the money I'd easily have bought any two Pentax lenses I wanted.
