Pentax KX, £25, what a bargain. I have an MX that was expensively serviced but now its capping. This KX came up on eBay. The seller didn't even say if it firedso it was a total punt. When it arrived I checked it out and it seemed OK. It was capping at 1/1000 and the meter wasn't working but for £25.... Off came the bottom plate and the old oil was removed and replaced, the battery contacts were thoroughly cleaned and hey presto, it's mint tomorrow we film test it
Nice!!!

The medium format kit isn't quite as impressive in terms of quantity. However it does have the apparently mythical outer bayonet extension tubes.
Still trying to decide if I need a dedicated macro lens for it or not. I've just been using my 105mm f2.4 and have enjoyed the results

of course you do, that big empty spot in the NW corner needs something in it

I don't disagree. Question is, which one?

while i'm not adverse to buying gear for the sake of buying it, I'm trying to figure out what the 100mm will do better than the 105mm, especially considering the bellows gets used for my macro.

The optics on the 100/4 macro are better than the 105/2.4. (The 105/2.4 is a more versatile lens overall, so it depends on how much macro shooting you do)

Minolta X700

A friend just dropped this off with me today. I have never had something this complete before. Box, styrofoam, plastic the camera was wrapped in, paperwork, receipt from July of 1989 for $209.95 for a body and cap. This is in pristine condition, no wear anywhere, and the seals are not degrading at all. It does have the capacitor problem, but for free. Yes, free. My friend found it on his local craigslist, free to the first one who came and got it.
