nice collection, you miss the k2dmd...when I'm home I'll try to take a nice pic of my five pentax Ks.
Until I get the K2DMD, I will justify the lack of it as it wasn't released in 1975 as the others . . .

Well neither the K1000 as far as I remember.

The F-1N is indeed a fearsome machine towering all the competitors!

Just today I received a book very difficult to procure today:

http://web.archive.org/web/20041024215419/http://www.canonfd.com/newf1world/nf1w_p000.jpg

It's also a new camera day because I received the first mini-SLR that went in production, the Krystall, a KMZ camera, basically a Zorki 6 without rangefinder and with a pentaprism...what Leica should have done but never did.

We are in the Pentax MX range, the Krystall is taller though, and much heavier:

It's a dirty little camera very crude, no instant mirror, no screen etc...here with its rangefinder sibling:

Hope you'll forgive the intrusion of a digital body, since this was set up to be a family portrait of all my 50's

These lists the K1000 as 1975 - MF Bayonet and http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/bodies/film_K/K1000.html

That stylized prism is very cool. Is it functional?

Nice family portrait!
As far as I know the K1000 was introduced in 1976 as a replacement for the SP1000, that like the K1000 doesn't have self timer and DOF, and came with the Takumar 55m f2.0 (unlike my Spotty F that had the f1.8 as well as my KM, my understanding is that the K 55mm f2.0 was just offered with the first K1000):

Pentax K1000 - Camerapedia

The KM was meant to be the equivalent of the Spotmatic F, the LX an upscale Spotmatic F with better metering and the K2 the "professional model" with electronic shutter.

2) What do you mean with "functional"? There is a pentaprism inside, but nobody liked the finish and the ribs, so the model had a short lifespan and was re-introduced with normal chrome finish, smooth pentaprism and rebranded as "Zenit 3M"...it became a big success unlike the Kristall, almost one milion of 3M made:

Zenit 3M - Camerapedia

But I always preferred the original Kristall, yesterday I shot a roll and I found so primitive yet fun to use....of course the first Spotmatic appeared just two years later and it was space age in comparison to these SLRs.

I don't care for the finish either, but those ribs?? Likey. That little camera looks like it weighs five pounds.

Love the hammer finish on the Krystal. Those early Soviet SLRs are very interesting cameras.

I don't have a scale but the Kristall with the pancake I-50 (one of the smaller lenses ever) weights more than my early K1000 with 55mm f2.0, even it it's much smaller.

Yesh me too, unfortunately the most fo the Kristalls on ebay have the finish damaged, it's difficult to get one in good conditions...and a friend 'o mine on the rangefinderforum has a Zenit S, that's even tinier and the mirror is controlled by...a string.

I mean, seriously..a single string on the left side of the mirror.

(i thought the A85* was bigger in size. A small Pentax lens after all)

Nice lens!!

This is what the crop factor people don't get over in the digital threads. It's not about one eye in focus with FF. It's about shooing lenses like this 85 as an 85 and not around a 135mm lens - a focal length I rarely shoot in a prime.
