Film AF Pioneers!

Store Demonstrator transparent SF1 and LN F35~70 with LN SF1n and LN F50/1.7. These cameras and lenses appear not to have been used. I have the boxes and papers for everything but the Store Demonstrator. The Store Demonstrator is missing the distinctive flash shoe cover and eyecup. The SF1n was a present - strap attached, roll of CP12 100/12 loaded (I can see it through the window), put back in the box and supposedly never used. Both cameras power up.

I don’t know why but I’ve always thought the SF1 is a really cool camera.

They feel sturdier than the PZ series, and last better than the MZ series?

Never handled a PZ Camera, but my MZ-S has lasted so far.

The MZ-S doesn't really seem to belong to the MZ series, despite the name, though.

The MZ-S is built far better than the rest of the plasticy MZ/ZX series.

Congrats on the 67ii purchase!

Yep I don't remember the last time if ever I used my 67ii in manual mode. It's like the LX, the auto is way better.

The next thing you need is "many" focusing screens, they get addictive and are pretty easy to find. (Like shoes, you can never have too many)

Enjoy!

Phil.

I'm quite the fan, though I didn't think I would be, of the screen mine arrived with. Not sure which is the "standard" screen, or if perhaps you had a choice when new... but it is the "cross-lined matte" screen. I've increasingly grown more and more fond of pure matte screens, but this is a surprisingly nice cross-over.

The BA-61 micro-prism matte was the one that came with mine, it's fine but I like the BB-61 split-image a bit better. The cross-lined screens are also great, especially for landscape work.

So many to choose from..............

I own three SF-1s. Two were DOA when I bought them (no returns, but, I got them for dirt cheap). The third has been hanging in there pretty well so far. Anybody know how to get an SF-1 "unstuck" with its mirror stuck in the Up position? Because of my own luck with the SF1, I hesitate to comment on its durability.

Yes, I have two 'dead' SF-1s and one working one. But I also have two Pentax AF 35-70s that were part of the deals, and I only need one. I'll sell the other, and the proceeds from that sale will pay for all three SF-1s and the two zooms. Which means I'll have gotten a working SF-1 with AF 35-70 for free. I love it when I can pull this sort of thing off.

This cool camera store display arrived today. I am assuming this is from early 1970's. So why not put a Asahi Pentax SP II from around 1971-1976 on top of it to show it off. The SP II was just recently revived with a new top, new bottom plate, new film advance and CLA. I am lucky to have a short drive away from Pål Vangsøy who still have a large stock of spare parts.

Anyone out there with any cool store displays?

Cool! I had a Kiev IIa (1957) for awhile but it went back to the seller due to rangefinder issues. I was very impressed with the assembly and viewfinder optical quality while I had it. While I like my 1961 Kiev 4A, the IIa is a step up IMHO.

I'd be willing to say that the viewfinders on the early Kievs are better — or, at least, have aged more gracefully — than the viewfinders on their West German counterparts.
