Fuji Velvia

Has anyone here had any experience with this film?
I wonder how it compares to Kodak Kodachrome.

Not much; couple hundred rolls. Nice stuff if you like eye buldging/popping/ripping colors--circus or carnival bright. Makes fall colors come alive; doesn't do skin-any color/type-at all. High impact product shots, car shows--anything bright, it's a good bet that Velvia can make it brighter.

Some claim it's real speed is ISO40; like all slide film, be spot-on with exposure and bada-bing!

velvia was the choice, is still the choice, of about 90% of landscape photogs.

It's got punchy colors. some say it's fake but it doesn't look unrealistic if used correctly and clearly it's the palate most people prefer since it is so widely used.

Personally, I prefer Provia 100F. Great film, more realistic colors, scans really well. I might be wrong but I think it's still the highest resolution film on the market.

One thing I really like about Provia is it pushes well. You can carry 100F and as long as you don't mind paying the push process cost (or you process your own) you can use the 100F for iso from 100-800 with excellent results.

Anyway, if shooting natural scenery Velvia is fun to shoot, if shooting people or city scapes go with Provia or Astia. To me though Provia is the film for just everything. They also make a Provia 400X which is grained as fine as 100F but obviously faster. I've never used it though.
