Asahiflex Repair?

I got an original Asahiflex I. Unfortunately, the curtain doesn't travel when the shutter is pressed. Also, the shutter cloth looks like it has hardened a bit (after 61 years!).

Any idea if this can even be repaired? If not, no big deal - it's a historic piece. I have a Ia that is still working well

Thanks in advance.

Email Eric Hendrickson @ Pentax Camera Service. He's one of a few left that can do it.

I see it's quite a shipping issue but I know he has hand fabricated shutter curtains for similar vintage cameras. In the US many of us have used him for our film cameras - there's even a testimonial thread here - and he is a member.

Thanks monochrome. I have used Eric before. I'll ask him. I just thought I'd get an indication from the forum before bothering Eric. He is one busy man!

There's also a shop called Shutterbox in Melbourne that do camera repairs.

I believe (but not 100% sure) that one of the ladies who does the repair work used to work for Pentax at some point.

Also maybe call CR Kennedy and see if they can recommend anybody (I know they do current Pentax repairs, but not sure of they still have anybody there who does old ones)

Hi,

Try f16 at Margate in Brisbane. His contact details are

F16 Camera Service
info@f16cameraservice.com.au
Phone 07 3284 1588

I have used him for quite a few repair jobs, but whether he does Asahiflex, I do not know.

Regards.

hah - so it was you then. I spoke to him one day about a camera and he told me he was behind, making shutter curtains for an Asahiflex.

Aww...that sounds expensive! And it also sounds like that's something only Eric can do. OK, I'll bite the bullet and it send it to him. Postage from Australia is ridiculous!

Thanks for all the replies
