My Spotmatic F surfaced while cleaning out my stack-of-stuff and I thought I would fire the old girl up. (sold the old pick-up, not many old girls fire up for me any more)

Knew the proper batteries were not available so went on an expedition to the local camera store where all the new <strike>crap</strike> plastic is available but not much that is good. "Air cells not available in 625, we'll get you some if you want a case, not much call for these." Alkaline a poor substitute.

If I have to carry the Gossen then I would rather carry the SV. Hate to see the F on the shelf with my VPKs.

Anyone need a good chrome Spot F?
I don't know about the the Spot F, but my understanding is that most Spotmatics have a bridge circuit, are not sensitive to voltage variation, and are supposed to be able to use modern alkaline and silver cells with the same dimensions.

old Spot F

Spent the weekend surfing in quest of definitive answer. You takes your chances with "experts".

Spot f different from other Spots. Has "coils" not whatever Spots have but behaves the same way. Balancing voltage. Small variences in battery voltage not important.

Bottom line. Buy some cheap film and see how things work out.

I'll get back.
