Yup, pledged $35, I'd be a hypocrite if I don't back this. Fingers crossed!

Not at all Chris, go read the kickstarter.

They are 'pre-selling' film at inflated prices so they can afford to save the last film making equipment left in the world before it is sold for scrap....

So yes I just paid 2x what I would for provia, but who cares? I would have probably given them that much anyway for a sticker because I support film in general.

When your favorite film has been discontinued, Chris, are you going to still stand on principle if some money-grubbing corporation asks for an inflated price to get the film back into production?

I don't these guys are a "corporation" at all, but just two ordinary persons trying to (re)start a business in a difficult time for film photography and Italian economy in general, so I'll support them.

I pledged and if I think of what I am going to get from it for only myself then I agree that the "price is inflated". After all, I can wait for full production to start and see what the market value will be. I'm sure a roll of film will cost less than the minimum pledge of $25 they are asking for. That's not how I look at it though. I'm trying to support an industry and the money I put into this campaign is the price for being a passionate supporter of what I believe in and for being an early adopter.

I pledged! I've only shot a couple rolls of slide film in my life but I want to see this company get back to making film. I figure this is as good a reason as any to try slide film again. And hopefully one day they'll make more than just E-6.

They've got about half of their goal in just two days. As long as the momentum doesn't just drop off a cliff they'll make their goal for sure.

Just got an email, that they've just reached the halfway point and I'm really glad there are so many people out there who back this project and the idea of slide film in general.

I also pledged $35

PS: Aren't those grumpy-looking Italians hilariously funny?

Looks like they crossed the half way point and are sitting pretty at $148k with 27 days to go. They will reach their goal for sure.

When I think some more about it I realize that they are not relying solely on the Kickstarter campaign. They probably have small private investors and banks backing them up. This campaign is capturing the voice of the customer and the market and it's not just a study. It's people talking with their money. That's a bold statement and builds a better business case.

I thought they were seeking capital from donations, with the film as your "thank you" gift for assisting them. That is a heck of a lot easier than actually taking us in as investors and the bank would have charged interest.

No, just regular slide film. The characteristics are supposed to be similar to Imation Scotch Chrome.

I thought they were also giving you first shot at using the film too with your donation to their cause.
