I've just fitted the FD Databack to my trusty Z1.

So why did I do that? Well because I could and the fact that the databack was only $10 so I thought why not replace it and have a play.

My MZ-S has a databack too, so it gives me the same options to use it should I wish.

So ........ who uses their 135 cameras with databacks?

There is one, I've never used it. I have one on my Yashica T4, I think I may have used that one a couple of times.

Never had a databack on my ZX-30. I don't really see why I'd want to use one.

I use mine from time to time on the MX. Unfortunately the years maxed out in 1994 with this model. It is analog and according to Pentax Canada cannot be updated. I can still record f stop and encript some alpha notes. More of a novelty than a functional tool at this time.

I wouldn't buy a camera with a databack.

It was Pentax' hint that you should probably buy another camera.

U would also hold it against a cam, if it had the databack. I never liked it

Got one with my Z-1. Despite displaying on the back, cannot get it to work on the film!

OP - MZ-S: doesn't this print info in the margin rather than within the 24x36 frame?

I had one on one of my ME Supers. I would shoot the first picture using it to give a date stamp so I could keep track of when a series of photos were shot.

my family used to use it all the time
now i have my own cameras, if it has a back, i pull out the battery or disable it

I never have had one, myself (Canon's put the data on the frame, aka, ruined photos,) so that was of no use to me.

If I got hold of an MZ-S with the databack, I would use that to put stuff in the margins, though.

mz-s prints exif info along the margings

if you enable date printing it will print it on the frame, which is ass.

When I got my ZX-L, I purposely got a databack so that I could put the date on the first frame so that I'd know when they were taken, like Tom. However, after forgetting to turn it off once and imprinting the whole roll, I turned it off and forgot about it.

I'd love the MZ-S with it's margin-printing. The 645N does this and it's wonderful to have EXIF-like data available.
