Spotmatic SP lightmeter misbehaviour

Hello.

I just bought a new Duracell D394 which should be an equivalent to the Mallory RM 400R.
But when I pushed the switch for checking the battery, the needle didn't drop, as written in the manual, it RISED immediately.
Could that mean the new battery has an inverted polarity compared to the original one?

thx in advance
Mario

I read something similar before. The battery may be upside down.

Upside down - that's it! The meter works.
Thanks a lot.

Had the same thing happen to me. Shot about 1/2 a roll of film before I figured it out. Needless to say, those shots didn't turn out too well.
