I frakking hate you!

Inside the lugs there is a thin plate that you can move pushing from one side.

Using a thin implement, such as a USA ten-cent piece (dime) gently press the small tab at the bottom of the lug to open the jaws: pull it off the post.

Here's a link to a pdf of the LX instruction manual. The password is Pentax. The instructions are on p. 42 of the manual (43 of the pdf).

Pix are worth a 1000 . . . . .

It's hard to see, but there is a little tab or projection that sticks out parallel to the surface of the camera body on the button to which the strap attaches. That's what you push, possibly with a finger, or fingernail, or coin. Keep it pressed and lift the button keeping it as close to parallel to the camera body as possible. I always found that device fussy and overly "engineered."

Crop from manual

With the lugs installed on the camera, "A" and "B" are flush. The manual recommends a "coin" to push in "A" so that "B" will stick out and release the lug but I have to used a small screw driver instead of a coin.
Putting it back on is easy as I can push "B" back in with my fingernail.

No signs of brassing or dings/dents and works flawlessly for that money. Yeah, definitely a steal!

The Pentax LX is only one of a very few which have features that have never been equaled by any brand/model past or present. Enjoy and share results when you can!
