The description regarding the LED meter read-out fits as well. Mystery solved! Pearl River S-207 it is! I did some Google work and apparently there was an export version too with English script. The lack of embossed lettering is a bit of a puzzle. Perhaps this one was a prototype or left the factory in somebody's lunch pail?

What's kind of amusing to me is this part:

(The S-201's on my list of cameras I'd like to own, but the price tends to be more than I'd like to pay when I do spot one.)

That's nice to know. Those stickers look like they come out of someone's label maker.

I suspect the stickers and probably the Helios 4K-4 lens were added by Kiev USA to body stock from China. Kiev USA was best known for totally remanufactured Kiev cameras for sale to U.S. buyers. Sadly, they recently quit business.
