Early Beattie LX Screen

Bought this over 15 years ago & it came in A Beattie Intenscreen case with instructions. Case was 3/1/2 X 4 1/2" flat plastic case with screen placed between 2 layers of foam & no insertion tool. Pix shown has screen in MX case to show details of grid markings with unusual octagon scribed in center. Matte screen has very fine concentric lines only seen with 4X loupe. I didn't have an LX at the time so used it in my MX. Didn't notice any difference in screen brightness as used grids more for composition & print film latitude may have masked exposure compensation when printed. Anyone seen screen like this?

Never seen one before. Wonder what that octagon could be useful for. Could it have something to do with the working area of the light meter?

Octagon was for metering area. Over 40+ years of using Pentax, I found some interesting things to try out. I used matte grid screens as found them easier to use with fast f1.2 lenses and for more composing images.
