After having done it more than once, I've made a habit of testing for rotational resistance on the rewind crank before pulling it up.
That exactly. Yuuuuuup.

Well see, that's your mistake right there, using one of them newfangled film cameras.

I can't disagree. Need a stable of k1000s.

Yeah... that's the problem with the SF1. It has a film advance motor, you can't play with a rewind crank to test whether the film is rewound. Not the end of the world, but I'll hopefully not do that again.
Another example of loss of control through automation.

I've done it on fully manual cameras a few times.

I got the sf1 for next to nothing recently. I usually like mechanical film cameras, but it does some neat things. Unfortunately near the end of the next roll it seems to have forgotten how to switch to manual mode, I don't think my k1000 will be replaced any time soon!

I opened the back of my KX once with the film at the end of the roll, forgetting to rewind it. It was inside in a darkish room and I only lost a couple images at the end of the roll, the rest was fine.

So I developed two rolls of rpx 25, one of which I thought was this roll using D76. Instead, it was totally unexposed, but the other roll came out well?! I guess the roll is hiding somewhere in my house or at work.

I've got a bag of exposed films dating back >30 years. Maybe in another 30, I'll get around to them...

Two recommendations

i) always rewind film back into cassette, so you know it needs developing... And does not need another 36 exposures.
ii) buy a Spotmatic with auto tukmar... Or earlier all manual. The single coated lens signature is better.
