Acquired an mx with takumar. I have no desire for it. What should I do?

I love the 28 and 150 tak I got but they came with what seems a great film camera. I am not doing film. I love the authentic Pentax adapter more than the camera. Want thoughts on what to do with it. I have no clue about film cameras. Should it be a center piece on a coffee table or can I get it a good home.

If anyone is interested I can give for a donation to this site. If this site can confirm you gave. That would make it worth my time to send it.

Sell the body on eBay or the Market Place. Give it away to a PF member. Give it to Eric and he can use it for parts or refurbish it and sell it on eBay so he can buy other parts cameras.

Try a roll before you send it. At least look through its extremely large viewfinder (for a 35mm).

I'd love it myself, but the wise thing to do is 1) sell it if it's in good shape, as you can get a decent price for it, or 2) give it away to a worthy forum member via an informal contest. If it's not in good shape, donate it to Eric as Not a Number recommended.

The MX is usually worth a little more than other Pentax film bodies (except the LX) -- so if it is in decent shape you should be able to get something for it...

MX price

An excellent working condition MX sells commonly for $125-$150, particularly if the foam seals are in good shape. I have one with a winder and it is my favorite Pentax film camera.

Yup. Sell it if you like - won't be hard. Great camera - easily in my top-5 of any camera in any format. Maybe even top-3.
More than that, I'd recommend you reconsider ditching it so quickly and throw a few rolls through it. Might be surprised.

Everyone is getting me curious about the camera. Definitely going to look at it closer. So far all I have done is check out the focusing screen through the vf.

My favorite use for the MX is a near perfection *normal view*, compact camera. Put a cheap Pentax-M or -A series 50/2 50/1.7 or 50/1.4 on it and you have one of the brightest 1:1 viewfinders imaginable - you can shoot with both eyes open without any problem. Plus it's tiny, bulletproof and completely mechanical, all except for the meter.

My suggestion is run a quick photo competition and give the camera as a prize.

Buy a cassette of Ilford XP2.
Down load user manual, pretty simple.
Drop it off at mini lab after 36.

You are going to be hooked good.
