Just got an LX.... and slow shutter speed seem way too slow

I did follow it up and he offered to take another look at it. While it might be feasible for someone like yourself in the US to do a repeat send-off, shipping costs are pretty expensive here is Australia. But in any case I hope the OP sorts everything, and you as well. I'd be interested to hear how the experience with the Japanese repair techs you linked to go, so do report back.

That's how i interpreted it as well, for what it's worth. But again - I'd be frustrated weeks and 100 dollars later as well, certainly.

I've been building, calibrating & repairing electro-mechanical devices since the 70's - probably tens of thousands by now but only a handful of cameras, and I understand things can happen. I also understand the economy associated with these things particularly when it comes to old obsolete devices. Implied lack of pride - specially one sided view, is out of bounds.

Neither the KX nor SP shutters are electro mechanical?
Pentax cameras like the KX and SP were not designed or made in the CUS?
My auto is Ja for a reason...

Some problems especially intermittents can be difficult to reproduce.
I once had to send one of my KX bodies back to Eric after a few months.
No servicer is perfect. But Eric is head and shoulders above the rest.

I as well had to send a camera back for a second look some years ago.

Of course that would be one camera in a string of 20 or so since 1998, Asahi Pentax K through Pentax LX.

I got Ja autos and cameras cause they are more reliable and easier to maintain.
I don't ship cameras or autos for repair the cost is too high and both mail and tax is annoying here.
It is not abnormal to have problems after service so local service is convenient.

Which is why Eric is convenient for most of you especially given your mail service is still good. E6 cassettes in post disappear too frequently here!

I stick a trolly jack under the auto even when the service centre is 400 meters away.
The Pentax repair specialist is an auto bus and tube journey away. Never been their yet. I have a lens spanner.

I'm sure Aus and NZ have camera repair people too.

I had some good work done by the folks at Whilton Camera in the Sydney CBD about 5 years ago while I was in Aus for a couple months.
I know as well there is a fellow in NZ (in Dunedin if I remember correctly - but I may not be remembering correctly) who does quality work - wish I could remember his name.

Chris Sherlock. He prefers working on Kodak Retinas, as he recently declined servicing a Konica I had. Problem is parts and service manuals. Previously he did repair my Yashica Lynx, and had to go looking for parts in order to do so.

Not just photographic. I used to drive a 1957 Borgward Isabella Kombi, but got tired of making my own parts.
